The Observer's Model.

A working paper on chromatic coherence, observation, and Open Custody — why colour is the only substrate that holds three time-relationships at once, and what that gives back when LLMs and developers participate in the same wheel.

Abstract

The framework decomposes any prompt into three states — Observed, Unobserved, and Zero Point — and renders each as a colour with hue (identity), lightness (journey weight), and observation count (history of being touched). The colour state is non-rivalrous, time-keeping, and updates continuously as developers and LLMs participate.

We argue this is the substrate LLMs are missing. They train on a snapshot, generate from frozen weights, and have no time inside. The wisdom store does have time. Two instruments, one wheel: a verdict layer that reads contract execution, and a colour layer that reads contract activation. They diverge by design — and the divergence is what the framework measures.

The framework operates under Open Custody Framework: people pay us, in advance, to prevent extraction from happening to them. The framework cannot be sold. The mission is to be used.

Provisional reading order, on publication

  1. The colour foundation — why three abstraction points (H, S, L) generate the only true infinite distinguishable substrate.
  2. The three states — Observed, Unobserved, Zero Point — and what each measures; the structural precedent (past / present / future for time, X / Y / Z for space, OBS / UO / ZP for knowledge state).
  3. The participation loop — how LLMs and developers lighten the wheel together.
  4. The dual instrument — verdict reads execution; colour reads activation; the divergence is signal.
  5. The dark / light reframe (P25) — substrate is dark prior to observation; light is the medium of observation; lightening accumulates visibility, not resolution.

We will not pre-publish for marketing. We will publish when the framework holds against its own falsifications, which is what closed alpha is for.
